Military Personnel

The Coranthian army imposes a mandatory one-year service period for all estated men, while unestated men and women serve on a volunteer basis. Prospective soldiers must attend one of three military academies before acceptance into the ranks. From lowest to highest, Coranthian military ranks are: avet, sergeant, vice-captain, captain, colonel, and general. The basic unit of the army is the company, made up of squads of avets and led by a captain and his or her adjutant vice captain. The king himself is the commander-in-chief of all military forces, with the Minister of Defense as his adjutant.
Glen Emerett is a friend to Reznik, Madeline, and Renard, having met them as a classmate at Tellisburg. A rare young unestated at the prestigious academy, he serves as a scout in the 28th Company. Glen grew up on a small farm in the Outlands town of Velance and dedicated most of his time to helping his family make ends meet. Glen is reserved and not particularly sociable, but dependable and skilled in combat.
Douglaston Stover Drake, known familiarly as Douglas, is a friend to Reznik, Madeline, and Renard, having met them as a classmate at Tellisburg. Earnest and intelligent, he serves as a lancer in the 28th Company. The Drake family is well-established and prominent within the Coranthian nobility, as Douglas’s father serves as Fourth Chair of the Assembly of Lords. Though ill-fit for military duty, he is anxious to serve and perform his duty to the best of his abilities. Due to the required service quota for estated individuals, Douglas is unable to escape deployment when war breaks out.
Jasmine Curtland is the captain of the 28th Company, serving alongside her identical twin sister, Vice Captain Rosalina Curtland. The Curtlands grew up in the Lynderan town of Densley and entered Barrington Academy at the age of sixteen. Though originally lacking in combat experience, Jasmine earned her rank after displaying formidable abilities during patrols and border skirmishes. More assertive and domineering than her sister, Jasmine was deemed more naturally inclined to serve as a captain.
Rosalina Curtland is the vice captain of the 28th Company, serving alongside her identical twin sister, Captain Jasmine Curtland. The Curtlands grew up in the Lynderan town of Densley and entered Barrington Academy at the age of sixteen. Though originally lacking in combat experience, Rosalina earned her rank after displaying formidable abilities during patrols and border skirmishes. Taciturn and unassuming, but reliable in battle, Rosalina is ideally suited to serve as Jasmine’s support, frequently able to follow her sister’s lead instinctively.
Nash Havora is the son of Minister of Agriculture Havora and captain of the 26th Company of the Coranthian Army at the start of 987. Graduating at the age of fourteen as one of the youngest ever to attend Tellisburg, he specialized as a medic and quickly climbed to the position of captain; among high society, this is deemed attributable in no small part due to his father’s standing. Nash is soft-spoken and unassertive, but inoffensive and personable.
